Health advice from both doctors and nurses in Manitoba is now only a phone call away, the province says.
Health Links–Info Santé — a bilingual, nurse-managed telephone program that Manitobans can call for assessment, triage and health advice — is adding two physicians to the program, the province said in a Thursday news release.
One physician added to the phone hotline earlier this month is available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., the province says. Another is expected to work overnight hours in December.
Nurse practitioners are also expected to join the service, but the province did not specify when.
The telephone service receives an average of 400 calls daily, and the province says an average of 40 callers are triaged to emergency departments each day.
