Disney’s “ Zootopia 2 ” has roared to a phenomenal start in China , setting multiple box office records and signaling strong momentum for the animated sequel’s global rollout.

The film, a buddy cop movie with anthropomorphic animals as the bickering partners, earned $34 million on its opening day in China, per numbers from Disney, marking the highest opening day and highest single-day box office ever for a U.S. animated film in the territory. The performance also represents the strongest opening day for any U.S. title in China since May 2021.
