SALT LAKE CITY – The lights are on at Temple Square.

The beginning of the annual Christmas tradition drew crowds Friday evening to downtown Salt Lake City.

Even amid ongoing construction on Temple Square, the Christmas lights will be on display every day through January 1, according to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Tyler Richardson visited Temple Square on Friday evening with his family, taking in the thousands of lights brightly welcoming in the holiday season.

“My little ones like it,” Richardson said. “It’s kind of magical for them as we walk around.”
