Calgary’s First Street Market was ordered to close by Alberta Health Services on Friday due to health violations.
In a statement from First Street Market management on Nov. 28, an inspection by AHS identified pest activity.
“Based on those findings, AHS required a temporary closure so the issue can be properly treated and resolved,” management said.
First Street Market said it understands the impact the situation has on vendors, teams and guests.
“All vendors are taking this situation very seriously, and we at First Street Market take full responsibility for ensuring the market meets the highest standards of safety and cleanliness,” they said. “We take all health infractions seriously, as keeping Calgarians safe is and always will be a priority for us.”
