AKRON, Iowa (KTIV) - The fire chief for Akron Fire-Rescue is stepping down from his position.
According to the department’s Facebook page, Ryan Bergman announced he will step down from the fire chief position at the end of the year.
“My full-time position keeps me out of town during the week, which is not fair to our department,” stated Bergman, “I have enjoyed leading this department the last five years, but all good things come to an end.”
The fire chief expressed his gratitude and pride for those who serve the Akron community and the surrounding areas.
“I could not be prouder of the men and women that serve this community and surrounding area,” said Bergman, “It has been an honor and a blessing to lead them.”
