Three people died on Saturday after a catamaran capsized in the Caloosahatchee River in Florida. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. local time near the Cape Coral Yacht Club, situated between Cape Coral and Fort Myers.
According to the Lee County Marine Emergency Response Team, four individuals were on board the catamaran when it overturned. Emergency responders from state, local, and federal agencies conducted a search of the river. They recovered three victims on Saturday. Two were pronounced dead at the scene, while the third was hospitalized in critical condition as of Sunday.
On Sunday, a fourth victim, a 60-year-old man who had been missing since the accident, was found deceased in the river. The U.S. Coast Guard led an extensive search operation to locate him, as reported by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
The identities of the three deceased individuals have not yet been released. The cause of the boating accident is currently under investigation by the Coast Guard. Authorities are working to gather more information about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
