FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Toledo Walleye dropped their third consecutive game on Sunday, falling on the road to the Fort Wayne Komets 5-1.
The Walleye were outshot 29-14 in the game, their fourth in the last five days.
After Fort Wayne’s Jayden Grubbe opened the scoring less than four minutes into play, Conlan Keenan tied things up for Toledo at the 10:35 mark. Will Hillman provided the assist.
The Komets quickly regained the lead, however, as Alex Aleardi made it 2-1 less than five minutes later.
Aleardi and Grubbe both scored again in the second period to give the Komets a 4-1 lead after 40 minutes. Zach Jordan sealed the victory with a fifth goal early in the third.
Toledo went 0-for-3 on the power play while allowing two power-play goals on four shorthanded opportunities.
