HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A high pressure ridge remains parked over the islands, keeping conditions dry and stable with light winds through Tuesday.
A First Alert is up for Wednesday, when showers are expected to increase on Kauai as a weakening cold front approaches and stalls over the Garden Isle. Showers will likely last just about 24 hours as the frontal boundary breaks up and is pushed westward by returning trade winds Thursday.
Skies are still a touch hazy, but the volcanic haze should decrease over the smaller islands Monday as the steering winds will slowly become more easterly.
The story in surf is still the extra large swell, with a high surf warning remaining in effect through noon Monday for most north and west-facing shores. Surf should decline to advisory levels Monday af
