Sebastian Cossa made 26 saves and John Leonard scored his AHL-leading 16 th goal Sunday as the Grand Rapids Griffins defeated the Iowa Wild 1-0 at Van Andel Arena.
The Griffins extended their franchise-best start to 16-1-0-1, winning their fifth in a row and improving their league-best points percentage to .917 (33 of 36 possible points).
It was Cossa’s second shutout this season and fifth of his AHL career as he improved to 8-1-0. He leads the league in goals-against average (1.56) and save percentage (.942).
Leonard scored the game’s lone goal at 5:45 of the second period, on an assist from Erik Gustafsson.
The Griffins host Cleveland (6-6-3-1, 16 points) on Wednesday (7 p.m.).
