1Selkirk, NY – A woman was sentenced for causing a fatal collision while not taking her anti-seizure medication. Jacklyn Parker, 25, pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide following a crash that killed 60-year-old Colleen Selkirk on August 19.
Parker, driving on River Road, experienced an epileptic seizure that led her to cross the center line and collide with Selkirk’s vehicle. Both Parker and her passenger survived but sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while Selkirk was pronounced dead at the scene.
Prosecutors revealed that Parker had been warned by her doctor against operating a vehicle without her medication. Following the collision, it was reported that she had not taken her medication for over a week.
