WOOD COUNTY, Ohio — A 58-year-old Walbridge man is dead after a snowmobile crash in Wood County on Saturday evening.

According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, Robert Albert Bortles III was operating a snowmobile on private property in the 5200 block of Latcha Road around 7:30 p.m. when the crash occurred.

Police say Bortles was riding the snowmobile west in a field just north of Latcha Road in Lake Township when he struck a utility pole.

Bortles was taken to the hospital in Toledo where he later died.
