By taking a close look at the characters found in the Advent story, their struggles, challenges, compliance, and even opposition to the will of God, we learn much about each one, especially Joseph and Mary. Elizabeth, her husband Zechariah, the innkeeper, King Herod, and of course the wise men, and shepherds; all can teach us practical lessons and points to ponder from the first Advent.
