EUGENE, Ore. - A new affordable housing project is set to make a significant impact in the Whiteaker neighborhood. The Whiteaker Commons development aims to provide 120 units with on-site resident services for households earning up to 60 percent of the area median income.
The project, a collaboration between Red Apple Square LLC, Meili Construction, and BDA Architects, will offer studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom homes. The location is highly walkable and bike-friendly, close to jobs, services, and transit. Local resident Brian Hammarstedt is optimistic about the positive changes this development will bring.
"I think the resources are getting limited within our community and that the more we can do for people that are homeless the more that we can do with people that are low income,"
