Glasgow would be able to create more jobs, build more housing and public transport with greater devolution of power and resources, Susan Aitken has said.
Following an announcement from John Swinney , that he will bring forward legislation to devolve powers to regions in Scotland, the council leader spelled out how the city would use extra tools at its disposal.
Aitken said programmes on skills, housing and transport would be the areas to benefit.
She said: “Land and planning is the big asset we need to unlock.
“The Clyde corridor is the biggest unrealised development site in Europe. It can be used for new industry and for housing.
“There’s barely any of it that doesn’t need some work done to it. There is toxicity and mineworkings and ownership is fragmented.
