A student at the University of Malawi in Zomba district, Abbel Mkandawire, committed suicide in his dormitory yesterday.

Police spokesperson Patricia Sipiliano confirmed the death but did not provide further details. “We are still investigating,” she said.

Reports indicate that the student was in his fourth year of studying Financial Management at the university.
