Hawaii County officials are holding an invitation- only meeting today for a limited number of residents to weigh in on proposed changes to the county’s affordable housing rules.
The county’s second public housing summit, from 1 to 4 p.m. today in Hilo, will offer an overview of a sweeping overhaul of the county’s affordable housing policy and give participants an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback before the updated rules move forward.
Today’s meeting follows the first housing summit held Nov. 12 in Kona, where county staff, community partners and residents discussed the draft policy changes. According to organizers, the ad hoc committee working on the update already has begun refining the proposal based on concerns raised at the earlier meeting.
