The U.S. Department of Transportation has completed designs for what it calls a first of its kind advanced female crash test dummy that better concentrates on the areas where women receive the most injuries.
Consumer safety advocates praised the updated dummy but added that it marked just one step in furthering research in addressing discrepancies in injury rate and severity between male and female drivers and passengers.
