Council chiefs confirmed there would be no bin collections across Birmingham today, December 1.
Birmingham City Council apologised to residents for the "inconvenience" and said it would look to resume collections tomorrow, Tuesday, December 2.
The authority made the decision to suspend collections due to bin workers - including agency staff who joined the picket line for the first time - striking outside three depots in the city.

The agency workers, employed by Job & Talent agency, were rallying with striking refuse collectors directly employed by the council outside the Smithfield Depot on Sherlock Street.
