Red Bull Racing have released a statement expressing that they "sincerely regret" provoking a barrage of online abuse directed at Kimi Antonelli after the Qatar Grand Prix. The 19-year-old Mercedes driver faced death threats on his social media channels, leading him to blackout his Instagram profile.

Antonelli was defending fourth place from Lando Norris during the closing laps when he suffered a momentary loss of control, going off the circuit and allowing the McLaren racer through. That move had critical title implications for Max Verstappen , who saw his deficit grow from 10 points to 12 as a result of the pass.
