Weeks after voting to enter a strike position, Toronto community and seniors housing workers have reached a tentative agreement with their respective employers, according to the union representing them.
Last month, members of CUPE Local 79, which represents more than 800 workers at Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) and Toronto Seniors Housing Corporation (TSHC), voted overwhelmingly to go on strike, citing understaffing issues and violence in the workplace.
With the strike deadline looming, the union announced the tentative deal in a news release Monday, saying details of the agreement would be made public once it was ratified.
