Gavin and Stacey star Mathew Horne has teased a reunion with a ‘phenomenal’ sitcom legend as he looks ahead to the future after his biggest programme came to an end.

Mathew played the role of Gavin Shipman on the legendary BBC comedy, which initially ran for three seasons upon its premiere back in 2007. The programme followed Gavin and Stacey West’s long-distance romance between Essex and Wales.

Created by Ruth Jones and James Corden, the series returned for its first episode since 2019 on Christmas Day last year as 19.11 million people tuned in to watch it within the first seven days of its premiere. The 90-minute 2024 special resolved the cliff-hanger from five years before, when Nessa asked Smithy to marry her.
