As a political party composed entirely of people who are trying their best not to be Canadian any more, the Bloc Québécois don’t typically concern themselves with federal policy on international trade.
But ever since the April federal election, the party has quickly emerged as one of the most vociferous opponents of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s grand plan to tilt the Canadian economy away from the United States.
In September, Bloc Leader Yves-François Blanchet lambasted Carney for not spending enough time in Washington, D.C., and for forsaking Canada’s “privileged and close relationship” with the Americans.
