A man's body has been discovered in Roker Park, Sunderland, prompting a significant police response and the establishment of a wide cordon around the area. Emergency services were alerted at approximately 7.35am on Monday following concerns for the welfare of an individual in the park.

Northumbria Police confirmed that they received a report regarding the welfare of a person, leading to the deployment of emergency services, including an ambulance crew. A spokesperson for the police stated, "Emergency services attended the scene where the body of a man was sadly found. His next of kin have been informed."

Authorities have indicated that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man's death. The police have stated, "There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man's death and a report will be prepared for the coroner."

The North East Ambulance Service also responded to the incident, dispatching an ambulance crew and a clinical team leader shortly after the initial call at 7.33am.
