Panelists at the National Council of Jewish Women/Cleveland’s 23rd annual Lois Zaas Memorial Advocacy Lecture – titled “Can We Trust the Media? Can We Trust the Truth?” – made a call to action to attendees to help protect truth in the media by fact checking posts and articles they see online before choosing to share or repost them.

Kevin S. Adelstein, publisher and CEO of the Cleveland Jewish News and president of the Cleveland Jewish Publication Company, Jennifer Cohen, civil rights attorney and co-founder of the Ohio Democracy Project, and Mitch McKenney, a journalism professor at Kent State University, spoke on the panel on Nov. 19 at Temple Emanu El in Orange, addressing the importance of sustaining access to truth in a democracy, and suggesting ways in which people can navigate today
