AUBURN — Alex Golesh begins his tenure as Auburn football 's head coach with a month-long warmup for the transfer portal.

Golesh, the former South Florida head coach who was announced as Hugh Freeze's successor Sunday, Nov. 30, will be pitching his roster for retention's sake, ahead of the portal window on Jan. 2. The roster he's inheriting was a large selling point for athletics director John Cohen in his search, and with Golesh's offensive capabilities, there are players he could put to great use.
