Rep. Nancy Mace celebrated what she called a “Mace win” after South Carolina was awarded a $195 million federal infrastructure grant to upgrade Long Point Road and improve access to the Port of Charleston; funding she promoted as the largest such grant in state history.
Her social media graphic touted the investment as a direct result of her efforts, framing the project as a major economic victory for the state.
However, a Community Note quickly pointed out a key omission: Mace voted against the bipartisan 2021 infrastructure law that created the grant program she is now taking credit for. At the time, the now gubernatorial candidate attacked the legislation as a “socialist wish list” and a “fiasco.”
