BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Lane Kiffin will be officially introduced as LSU’s next head football coach Monday afternoon, ending a dramatic coaching search and the beginning of a new era for the Tigers.
Kiffin will appear at a 3:30 p.m. press conference on campus, the day after he accepted LSU’s offer and informed his Ole Miss team that he would be leaving Oxford.
In his departure statement, Kiffin said he made “the difficult decision to accept the head coaching position at LSU” after “a lot of prayer and time spent with family.”
He said he had hoped to coach Ole Miss through the College Football Playoff, but the request was denied by athletics director Keith Carter.
“Unfortunately, that means Friday’s Egg Bowl was my last game coaching the Rebels,” he wrote.
