DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa Board of Regents President Sherry Bates announced her resignation effective Thursday, with Board President Pro Tem Greta Rouse stepping down from her leadership role the same day, though Rouse will continue as a board member until 2027.

A special meeting is set for Wednesday to elect new Board leadership. Bates expressed gratitude for her nearly 11 years of service, thanking Gov. Kim Reynolds and former Gov. Terry Branstad for the opportunity.

"I have worked with so many outstanding fellow Regents, Board office and university staff, and we have accomplished so much together," Bates said.
