The Columbia Police Department had a relatively active holiday weekend responding to incidents in the city.

A 15-year-old was detained following a shooting around 5:40 p.m. Nov. 26 in the 3800 block of Triple Crown Drive in the northern part of the city. Officers found Edward Brown Jr., 46, of Columbia, with gunshot wounds. He later died and next of kin were notified.

ATM thefts suspect nabbed in Columbia

Columbia police received a tip from other law enforcement agencies that a man visiting the city was allegedly connected to an ATM jackpotting scheme. This is a crime in which individuals gain access to an ATM to have it dispense all of its cash.
