A brutal assault in the town centre has been described as “completely deplorable” and “very shocking,” after a man was left seriously injured.

Police are investigating after a man in his 20s was attacked by three suspects outside the Royal Oak pub and Sultan Kebab takeaway on Ipswich Street between 10.30pm and 11pm on Saturday November 29.

The victim was knocked unconscious and sustained serious facial injuries, requiring hospital treatment.

Officers believe the incident may have started inside the pub before continuing outside.

Councillor Kieren LaThangue-Clayton said: “This is completely deplorable and it is very shocking.

"Stowmarket is a very peaceful town and whoever did this, they must be caught and they must face the full force of the law.”
