Plans for a major extension to the Integra 61 development that could bring hundreds of new jobs to the North East have been submitted.

The scheme in County Durham – which already includes a huge Amazon warehouse and distribution centre – could be extended to add a further three million square feet of employment space.

A planning application from developers Citrus Durham says the £340m next phase of the development includes proposals for a range of storage, distribution and manufacturing units of varying sizes to reflect market demand from regional businesses, as well as those looking to invest in premises in the region.

An outline planning application has been made which seeks to secure the fundamental development principles before more details are added later.
