Edgewater’s boys basketball team made deep playoff runs in the past two seasons, and coach Jon Mason said a key to the success has been playing top-tier teams early.
The Eagles are again following that formula. They’re off to a 4-0 start going into a week in which they play Apopka (3-1) on Tuesday and Lake Highland Prep (3-0) on Thursday in home games, and then go to Oak Ridge (3-1) on Saturday night as part of the Pioneers’ Breast Cancer Awareness Classic.
That five-game showcase is one of three big events being played this week. The storied Rotary Tip-Off Classic tournament runs Wednesday through Saturday at Winter Park High School, and undefeated Windermere Prep hosts its Orlando Health Hoopfest with seven Saturday games.
