HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - Deputies with the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office said an elk is free after a swing got tangled in its antlers.
Deputies reported the elk on Facebook around 7 p.m. on Sunday.
On Monday morning, deputies said the NC Wildlife was able to safely remove the swing from the elk’s antlers without harming it.
“We are grateful for the quick response and teamwork from NC Wildlife, and we sincerely appreciate our community for reporting concerns and helping us protect these animals,” said the sheriff’s office. “The elk are a special part of Maggie Valley, and we care deeply about their well-being.”
