The ambitious Paso Del Norte Trail is receiving a new round of funding.

The Paso Del Norte Health Foundation, the group behind the 70-mile, countywide trail network, announced Monday, Dec. 1, that the Texas Transportation Commission approved $31 million for two major segments of the project.

"This funding moves us one step closer to completing a vibrant network of trails that connects people to parks, neighborhoods, and places they love," said city Capital Improvement Department Director of Grant Funded Programs Joaquín Rodriguez in a news release. "We are grateful for the Texas Transportation Commission’s support and proud to help expand safe, accessible mobility options for all El Pasoans."
