Duke football is one win away from its first ACC championship since 1989.
The Blue Devils (7-5, 6-2 ACC) are set to take on the No. 16 Virginia Cavaliers (10-2, 7-1) for the conference title on Saturday, Dec. 6 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. It will be a rematch of a Week 12 game that saw Virginia take down Duke 34-17 at Wallace Wade Stadium.
Should the Blue Devils come out on top and sit at 8-5, they are not guaranteed a spot in the College Football Playoff. Only the five highest-ranked conference champions earn automatic bids. That means if the selection committee ranks Duke below champions from the Big 12, Big Ten, SEC and two Group of Five conferences, the Blue Devils, and the ACC as a whole, could be left out of the playoff despite winning the conference.
