CLEVELAND — The City of Akron on Monday announced a new non-emergency mass notification system to keep residents informed of issues like road closures, snow and ice alerts and trash pickup.
The city's "CodeRed" platform is free to join, and users can sign up by clicking HERE or by texting "AKRONOH" to 24639.
“Communication and transparency are cornerstones of our administration, and this new notification system will help us reach more of our residents with important information,” said Akron Mayor Shammas Malik. “Residents can choose the types of information they want to receive notifications on like road closures, upcoming city events, building closures and more, as well as how they how they want to receive those notifications such as via text, phone call, email, or all three.”
