Dame Judi Dench ’s vision loss is progressing.

Over 10 years after the Cats star shared her macular degeneration—a degenerative condition affecting the retina—diagnosis, she admitted that it’s progressed so much she “can’t recognize anybody now.”

“I can see your outline,” Judi explained to pal Sir Ian McKellen in a joint ITV Interview . “But I can’t recognize anyone now. I can’t see the television. I can’t see to read.”

And when the interviewer asked her about the theatre, Judy sullenly shook her head, “Well, no.”

Judi’s health update comes two years after she admitted that the diagnosis affected her ability to memorize film scripts with ease.
