Dancing With the Stars was crafty during its earlier seasons.

Indeed, production designer James Yarnell revealed that amid the surprise success of season one in 2005, a last minute request for a trophy led him to shuffling together his best resources for the champions.

“ Conrad [ Green ] the executive producer came in and said, ‘We should get a trophy,’ James revealed in an interview with Deadline published Nov. 25. “It was around about week three or week four and the show was becoming hit. And we felt we should do something on camera.”

After being inspired by the trophy used on DWTS ’s U.K. counterpart Strictly Come Dancing , but not having the supplies to put it together, James had an idea.
