LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The colder months are now officially here in Southwest Louisiana, and that means your pipes may be at risk of bursting.

Plumber Les Gautreau of Geaux Flow Plumbing Repairs said homeowners can prevent the freeze from affecting their plumbing with a few simple tricks.

“You want to get faucet covers for the faucets that are not covered. If your house is off the ground, get some tarp, roofing paper, or, you know, visquine or something like that to cover it to keep the wind from getting to it,” Gautreau said.

One simple trick to keep your pipes circulating is to let a constant stream of water run through your faucet.
