GlobalFest, one of Calgary’s most celebrated summer festivals, has announced it is suspending operations due to what organizers describe as “unprecedented financial pressure.”

In a statement posted on its website, the festival cited rising costs, global geo-political constraints, and ongoing economic uncertainty as the driving factors behind the decision.

Organizers emphasized that the suspension is temporary, with plans to resume full operations by mid-January 2026.

“Across Canada, festivals are facing unprecedented financial pressure, and GlobalFest is no exception,” reads the statement from the organizers. “Our Board and Staff are working night and day to ensure GlobalFest can continue.”
