The Coronado Islanders girls’ basketball team’s first two games of the year, on paper, were both solid early-season measuring stick matchups.

El Camino and O’Farrell Charter are both CIF Division teams. While it wouldn’t be the 2-0 start the Islanders were hoping for, Coronado still flashed some good things. Falling to El Camino 41-31 and defeating O’Farrell Charter 34-24.

“In that first game, we didn’t play as good a defense as we wanted to,” said Islanders Coach John Coolidge . “But we did a nice job of quickly re-grouping for that game against O’Farrell.”
