The mum of a Nuneaton teenager left with a serious brain injury caused by a drink driver said: 'I never thought this would happen to us'. Victoria says her family's life changed forever in June last year.

Her daughter Amelia, then aged 18, had been out celebrating finishing her A-Levels when she was left seriously injured after the car she was travelling in crashed in Weddington. She was treated at the scene by medics from West Midlands Ambulance Service and taken to the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire .

Amelia spent nine days in hospital, where Victoria prayed by her bedside that she would survive. When Amelia came home, Victoria and her family had to become her carers.
