The Tower of London was forced to close its doors on Saturday morning due to "criminal damage" inflicted on a display case housing the State Crown. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, 6 December, involved "suspected food" being thrown at the case that safeguards jewels valued at over £3 billion.
Following the incident, which took place just before 10am, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that four individuals were arrested and taken into custody.
The Met Police stated: "Police were called at 09:48hrs on Saturday, 6 December to the Tower of London following reports of criminal damage to a display case, containing the State Crown."
They added: "It was reported that four protesters threw suspected food onto the case before two left the scene."
