The Tower of London has been closed following reports of criminal damage to a display case containing the Crown Jewels. Police said four protesters had been arrested following the incident at the historic landmark just before 10am on Saturday.
The Mirror reported that crumble and custard were thrown on to the case containing the State Crown, which is part of the Crown Jewels, before two protesters fled the scene. The State Crown is worn by the monarch at the end of the coronation ceremony and at formal occasions like the State Opening of Parliament . View 2 Images
It was worn by King Charles at his coronation in 2023, and was seen atop of Queen Elizabeth II's coffin during her lying-in-state period and subsequent state funeral at Westminster Abbey.
