MP Jim McMahon has said he is 'deeply concerned' after a police were called to a 'large-scale disturbance' involving 100 youths in Oldham town centre. Chaos broke out on Thursday evening, with reports of dozens of young men fighting and throwing fireworks.

Videos shared on the Spotted Oldham Facebook group show a large group of people in the town centre and officers pinning one person to the ground as they appear to make an arrest. A dispersal order was issued following the trouble with extra police patrols also put in place.

Today (Saturday) Mr McMahon said he had contacted the police and council 'to demand extra reassurance for residents'. He said: "I'm deeply concerned by the reports of chaos involving around 100 youths fighting and fireworks being thrown.
