A Florida man wanted for armed robbery and false imprisonment was arrested in Macomb County’s Shelby Township thanks to police work and technology, according to law enforcement officers.

The Shelby Township Police Department said the local investigation began late last month when the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office in Florida requested their help in apprehending a suspect who was believed to have traveled to Michigan.

According to Pasco County detectives, the suspect had robbed a gambling establishment, tied up and assaulted an employee, and fled the area in a Dodge Ram pickup truck. Investigators also told Shelby Township’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) that the suspect has family in the Shelby Township area.
