The oldest from-scratch bakery in New England is getting new digs — but it’s not going very far.
Lyndell’s Bakery will be relocating from its current space at 720 Broadway in Somerville to 734 Broadway sometime in 2026, owner Bill Galatis recently told Wicked Local .
The current building that Lyndell’s occupies will be torn down and rebuilt as a mixed use development. Galatis plans to close his bakery temporarily right after Easter (April 5, 2026) and reopen before Mother’s Day (May 10, 2026).
The owner is working to create an updated space that also incorporates the nostalgia of a classic bakery.
“It will be brand-new, instead of being 70 years old, with all new equipment,” Galatis told Wicked Local.
