A man hit by a car in Chelsea, Massachusetts, on Tuesday was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries, according to local police.

The man, a 30-year-old Malden resident, was hit on Second Street, across from the Market Basket. He is in critical condition at Mass General Hospital, according to police. He was not publicly identified.

The driver of the vehicle was also taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Massachusetts State Police and the Chelsea Police Department are investigating.
