WASHINGTON — Great Lakes Cheese Co. has recalled more than 260,000 cases of shredded cheese products sold at major retailers across 31 states and Puerto Rico due to potential metal fragments in the products.
The recall affects popular brands including Walmart in-house brand Great Value, Target store brand Good & Gather, Happy Farms by Aldi, Food Club, and Always Save. The contamination stems from supplier raw material in what the FDA classifies as a "downstream recall."
The recall includes various shredded cheese products, including mozzarella, Italian-style blends, and pizza-style cheese blends. Products range from 8-ounce to 32-ounce packages and were distributed to stores in states nationwide.
