ST. PAUL, (AP story as published by the Grand Forks Herald) - U. S. marshal's deputies disclosed that John N. Pape and George F. Heck, who were sentenced to 18-year federal prison terms for a kidnapping and car theft, made an unsuccessful attempt to escape about two weeks ago while being taken to Leavenworth federal penitentiary in Kansas.
